ORDINANCE NO. 3-2-10 SERIES 2018

ORDINANCE AMENDING HEN ORDINANCE

WHEREAS, the Village of Kansas has an Ordinance which allows the keeping of Hens in The Village; and

WHEREAS, the keeping of Hens inside the village limits should be prohibited as are other animals in Sections 3-2-8 of the Kansas Village Ordinance; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Village to amend the Ordinance to so provide.

NOW THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Kansas, Edgar County, Illinois:
1. Section 3-2-8.1 of the Village of Kansas Ordinance shall be amended to read as follows:

3-2-8.1 PROHIBITION OF HENS IN VILLAGE; TIME FRAME TO COMPLY

1. It shall be unlawful to keep Hens within the village limits of the Village of Kansas and Hens shall be subject to the Provisions of Ordinance 3-2-8 along with the animals listed there.

2. Any person having Hens within the Village limits that is currently in compliance with the Hen Ordinance as it exists prior to this amendment shall have six months from adoption of this Ordinance to comply with this Ordinance.

3. The presence of Hens in violation of this Ordinance is declared a nuisance and is subject to penalties as provided in The Village of Kansas Ordinances.

4. The foregoing Amendment shall take effect immediately upon passage of this Ordinance.

I offer the foregoing Ordinance and move it be adopted by the Board.
